THE SUCCESSION OF WILLIAM GUILERMO RODDY AND CATHERINE MARIE THOMAS

Be it remembered that on the first day of September in the year of our lord 1838, the 63rd of the independence of the United States of America. Pursuant to a decree of the court of probates jotting in a for the parish of Terrebonne dated the 23d day of July of the present year, rendered on the petition of the widow and heirs of full age of the late William Roddy. I upon the advice of the famiy meeting of the minors. Catherine Roddy and George Roddy, ordering that all the property belonging to the community which existed between the heir William Roddy and Catherine Thomas, his surviving wife. I, Lepay Barras, Judge for the parish of Terrebonne have traveled to the house of John Clark on the Bayou Petit Cailiou, and there in presence of
1. Mrs. Widow William Roddy acting in her own name and in the name of Catherine and George, minors as aforesaid
2. William Roddy, one of the heirs acting in his own name.
3. Thomas Roddy , one of the heirs acting in his own name.
4. John Clark, acting in the name of Mary Roddy.
5. Henry Roddy, one of the heirs acting in his own name.
6. And of Mepes, William Claiborne Watkins jr and Phillip Darce assisting witnesses.

Have proceeded to the public auction after crying out in an audible voice the terms of the sale in the following manner. All sums of ten dollars and above payable by thirds in March next 1839 & March 1840 & March 1841. Ten dollars payable all in March next 1839. The lands and slaves remainig their mortgager until final payment and all purchases bound to give approved security in the following manner.
